HUMAN CONDITIONS

Printed Matter

Poet, Savannah Brown, looks at aspects of life and writes poetry that explores themes of existentialism and pain; however, her work is often read as hopeful or beautiful. There is beauty and suffering in the world. Poetry is an avenue in which we can express ourselves. This book combines different poems by Savannah Brown creating a collection that does not directly answer questions of humanity but adds to it. Eleven poems in total are featured separated into four “conditions” of what it means to be human: suffering, hope, existentialism, and passion. The form the book takes is truly a collection as it is bounded by an accordion cover. The design is simple and understated with pockets of emotional imagery through “conditional gradients” and photography.
